NAMI National charters each State Chapter to train affiliates in their signature evidence-based support groups and education classes

1. NAMI Illinois Trains the Support Group Leaders for all the local affiliates including NAMI Lake County Illinois
2. NAMI Illinois Offers A Statewide Annual Educational Conference about Mental Health support, policy, and accessing mental health resources.
3. NAMI Illinois coordinates the advocacy for the 20+ affiliates of NAMI statewide. Those affiliates are interested in improving public support services for persons with mental illness and their families. The State of Illinois legislature controls and determines almost all the public mental health expenditures through the implementation of the state Medicaid plan. 
4. Setting good State Public policy priorities impacts the experience of every family and individual at the local level.
5. NAMI Lake County and NAMI Illinois are a part of multiple statewide and national mental health community coalitions that monitor and inform its membership about important policy developments and opportunities for improving the lives of persons with mental illness and their families.
6. NAMI Lake County Illinois examines and advocates for policies at the county, township, and county level.
